Getting the right gift for someone can be tricky. I like to think I’m good at gift giving (it’s one of my love languages), but I’m rarely surprised by gifts given to me. That’s why I couldn’t believe the amazing Christmas gift I received from my daughters: A 3-month Seoulbox subscription!! I didn’t even realize something like Seoulbox existed! I know that my family and friends don’t always understand my obsession with Kdramas and all things Korean but the fact that my daughters did some research and discovered this gem of a gift shows me that they really try. Seoulbox is the best gift for Kdrama lovers – like me!
Korean Experience in a Box
So what is a Seoulbox? Basically, it is a Korean experience in a box. Each box comes with snacks, drinks and Kpop or Kbeauty surprises depending on the type of box chosen. Knowing that I like Kdramas and Kpop, my daughters went with the Kdrama/Kpop version. It comes with a beautiful booklet describing everything in the box, articles about Kpop, Kdramas, Webtoons and other nifty content – like Korean writing lessons.
Seoulbox Subscription
Seoulbox is also a monthly subscription service where as little as one box can be ordered or up to a years’ worth.
The December box is chock full of items from puffy cheese snacks coated in things like cream cheese and strawberry chocolate (savory & sweet delights), Mochi Jellies (an acquired taste), Hershey’s Chocolate Almonds Rice Cake Pies, a spicy Tteokbokki Chew (which is quite chewy), Teazle Sparkling Yuja Green Tea (a refreshing citrus and green tea combo), Janchi Noodles (still need to make those) and Asak Basak Rice Crackers (a little dry for my taste).
Nonfood items in addition to the book include a Mediheal Pepta Lifting Ampoule Mask (it’s dry here in Colorado so that will come in handy) and a Maple Story Monsters Key Ring in a plastic egg. I have no idea what the name of my monster is, but it/they are pretty cute. I think my mailbox keys have found a new home.
A Koren Snack Aficionado
After having sampled many of these treats from the streets of Seoul, I might be a tad more comfortable shopping at a local Korean market. And – when I visit South Korea someday, I will confidently buy snacks at a neighborhood convenience store just like any of my favorite Kdrama characters.
For now, I’m off to watch my latest Kdrama while eating delicious Korean snacks. When does my next box come?
